What We Need
  • Tightly-written web copy of up to to eight pages of 200-300 words each
  • The opportunity to work closely with an experienced, SEO literate copywriter
Additional Details

Create Now has a terrific team of volunteer designers and tech support who are rebuilding our website. We need help to edit the copy so we can promote the amazing work our non-profit organization has been doing for almost 25 years.

What We Have In Place
  • We currently have Creative Director, SEO help, Graphics & data migration, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have branding guidelines in regards to correct terminology to use, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How This Will Help
This project will save us $6,073 , allowing us to buy arts supplies, musical equipment, cameras and more for the youth in our Zoom classes. Our Volunteer Coordinator needs support to organize these workshops and ship materials to groups of youth.

Create Now will start celebrating our 25th Anniversary in late October with having served almost 50,000 kids but hardly anyone has heard of our nonprofit. We need to get many more followers so we can recruit sponsors for our 25th Anniversary Benefit on April 23, 2021, and to raise more money because we're grassroots and struggling. At the same time, people are starting to learn about Create Now through social media, and we need to build that up. Our website is cluttered and is being re-designed.

Our Mission

Create Now empowers youth through arts education and mentoring. We've reached 49,000 young people ages 3-24 (transition-aged youth), especially those who are challenged by poverty, abuse, neglect, incarceration, domestic violence or left orphaned and homeless. These are the "forgotten children" who have fallen through the cracks. Create Now produces a variety of workshops in music, dance, writing, photography, fashion, photography... ALL the arts.

What We Do

(1) VOLUNTEERS are matched with kids at the 100+ youth agencies in our network located all over Los Angeles, Orange County and adjacent areas. We organize workshops based on your schedule, even one-time events. Create Now staff provides training, arts supplies and culmination events where each youth receives gifts as lasting souvenirs.

During Covid-19, all classes are held through Zoom, so location doesn't matter. However, we prefer arts volunteers who live in the Greater Los Angeles area because there may be opportunities to meet your students in person when the pandemic is behind us.

(2) SCHOOL CLASSES are taught to disadvantaged kids in poverty-stricken neighborhoods where students learn guitar, visual arts, writing and STEAM
projects from professional teaching artists whom Create Now hires.

(3) CULTURAL JOURNEYS - Each year, Create Now brings
thousands of families to concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and Disney Hall, plus plays, Cirque du Soleil and more fun events through our Cultural Journeys program.

(4) Our CAP initiative (Community Arts Projects) helps to cap violence in low-income neighborhoods by producing arts festivals, talent shows and murals through sponsored events that can reach large numbers of families.
